"Wow! That really was a splendid tea party!" said a lovely card the Parish Office received the day after our community Tea Party to celebrate VE Day.

This special event was organised in conjunction with the Parish Council and we had over 80 guests in church. They were entertained firstly by the children from St John's Primary School with a lively sing off of 'Pack up your troubles' and 'Its a long way to Tipperary' and then by our own wonderful band who performed a set of beautifully chosen and performed war time classics.

There was a delicious spread of sandwiches, sausage rolls, freshly baked scones and lashings of home made cake. The Church looked beautiful with vintage style arrangements on the tables and lots of red, white and blue. We had great fun dressing up in the 1940's style with costumes kindly lent by the Christian Drama Centre.

There is no doubt that this could only happen with a huge Church family combined effort. Thank you so much for your time and talent in making this such a splendid day!
