Prayer Directory 2018
Due to the Government introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations, in order for your personal information to be included in the prayer directory (the new version of which will be circulated in May 2018), you will need to complete a Prayer Directory Form (see attached). Christmas Commuter Outreach
We shall be handing out free tea, coffee, cookies and Christmas literature to the very appreciative commuters at Buckhurst Hill Station from Mon 18th to Fri 22nd Dec from 6.30-8.30am. Please could you help serve for an hour or so on one or more mornings? If not, we need LOADS and LOADS of cookies baked (or purchased), to hand out each day.

Waitrose Green Token Scheme
Waitrose store, Buckhurst Hill has kindly chosen the Commuter Outreach at Buckhurst Hill Station as one of its community support groups for November.
Please remember to ask for some tokens and add them to our box when you are shopping throughout the month, and tell all your friends & neighbours too!

Fri 1st December – Carol Singing
As part of the Queen’s Road Christmas Festival, we will be singing carols outside Buckhurst Hill Library from 6.00pm. Please come and join in – all welcome.
Sat 2nd December – Churchyard Gardening
Our next date for gardening in the churchyard is Saturday 2nd December from 9.30 – 12.30. We hope you will come along to help – there will be more leaf sweeping to do and many hands make lighter work.
Mon 4th December – Men’s Meal and Carol Service
Meeting at 7.00pm at St John’s Church for a Carol Service, followed by dinner at Soiree, Queen’s Road. Please let John Alligan (07802 480510) know if you are able to attend.
Sun 10th December – Church Family Christmas Lunch
Don’t forget to sign up to take part in this wonderful event with all the trimmings – great fellowship and food. Sign-up sheet in the Church Narthex. Donations of Christmas crackers are very welcome.
Mon 11th December – Mothers’ Union Meeting
8.00pm in St John’s Church – we are continuing our theme of “Live Out Your Faith Through Action” with Rhoda Harborne talking about her nursing career. All welcome.
Thurs 14th December – Ladies Christmas Meal
This year we will be going to The Toby Carvery, Buckhurst Hill, 7.15pm for 7.30pm. £16.50 per head to cover the meal, tip and a complimentary glass of Prosecco or soft drink alternative. Drinks can be purchased direct from the bar. Feel free to invite your friends. Forms now available from Chris Hawkins – to be completed and returned with cheque payable to Ms C Hawkins by 4th Dec at the latest.

There is a Saturday Celebration (Soul Survivor) taking place at 5.00pm (meeting in Church car park at 3.45pm). Please let Jacob or Becca Farley know if you are planning to attend.
Thurs 28th December – New Life Art Ministries
You are invited to this Christmas Event at Costa Coffee, Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill from 7.30pm. Christmas gifts, handcrafted jewellery, journals and cards, latest testimonies, live music, coffee and cakes available to buy.
Sun 31st December – New Year’s Eve
We will be holding an evening service plus celebration on New Year’s Eve. The event will be held in St John’s Church, starting at 9.30pm and seeing the New Year in. It will be a fun evening (including a quiz), followed by worship and word. Bring your own food and drinks.

Mon 1st January 2018 – New Year’s Day walk
This year, the New Year’s Day walk will set off from St John’s at 11.30am and walk to The Darby’s in Loughton where refreshments of tea, coffee, soup, hot dogs, cake, and the finest beluga caviar will be on offer.
The walk is approximately four miles and takes between 90 and 180 minutes depending on speed of walking and amount of nattering. Bring
a backpack with a bottle of water, packet of polos (everyone loves polos) and a pair of clean shoes or slippers to wear in the house. We don’t want smelly feet around the house, do we…
Dogs are welcome but not in the house. Children are welcome, again not in the house..!
