Sunday 1st October,  10.45am All-age Harvest Service

We are looking forward to our all-age Harvest service.

If you would like to bring food products, they will be added to the school collection and donated to Loughton Food Bank. I gather they are requesting the following items: chocolate, tinned fruit, tinned rice pudding, pasta, sauces, coffee or washing powder.

However, we would really like people to come ready to donate to the charity ‘Embrace the Middle East’.  You can find out more about what they do by clicking on this link: http://www.embraceme.org .

‘Embrace’ is a Christian charity working with people of all faiths and none, in the Middle East, to free themselves from a life of poverty and injustice. They work with Christian communities to bring lasting change in education, healthcare and community development.

 Calling all Counsellor’s…

A group of us are interested in exploring mental and emotional health and well-being, and how we as a church can support and better respond to people’s needs, both from within the

congregation, but also in the wider community.

If you are a qualified counsellor up to level 4, or are in training, we would like to arrange a meet-up so that we can discuss some ideas and shared experiences.

If this applies to you, please email me: sarah.guinness@sjbh.org.uk and I will be in touch to arrange a meeting sometime in October.

Mini bus drivers needed!

We are hoping to take the youth group to the Soul Survivor Saturday celebrations which are once a month in Watford.

We are looking for people who are able to drive the mini bus. You need to have a full driving licence which includes category D1.  If you might be able to help with this on the occasional Saturday, please come and chat to me.

Thanks, Becca Farley

27th September – John Hughes’ Funeral

Many of you will remember John (Little John).  He was called to the Lord on 12th September, aged 88.  His funeral will take place on 27th September at 11.15am at The City of London Crematorium.

All welcome to attend.

3rd October – Men’s Meal

We will be trying a new venue (Soirée, 79 Queens Road), and a new day (Tuesday) for the month of October, 7.45pm for 8.00pm start.  This restaurant has a 4.5 Tripadvisor rating.  As the booking is number sensitive, please contact John Alligan ASAP if you would like to attend.  Mobile:  07802480510.

5th October – Prayer Ministry

You don’t need to be part of the prayer ministry team to come along, but if you are involved in praying for others during our

services and consider yourself part of the prayer ministry team, please make every effort to attend this evening at St John’s (8.00pm start).  This evening is for your refreshment, as well as an opportunity for worship and training.  Please let me know if you are planning on attending so that I have an idea of numbers.  Please talk to Sarah with any queries or for more information.
