Church Maintenance Team
The running of a church is reliant on people giving their time, skills and energies. We are now looking for people to join the Church Maintenance Team. Ideally we need 6-8 regulars.
Why? The buildings include St John’s and St Stephen’s plus their halls and outbuildings all of which are exposed to wear, tear and the weather and therefore need care and attention to ensure they continue to benefit the Church and the broader community. Without regular care, the buildings will incur significant costs that are easily avoided with regular TLC.
What? The team will meet once each month to survey and address maintenance needs, from unblocking drains and gutters, identifying issues such as loose masonry, clearing leaves and securing loose guttering and wiring. The work will involve some degree of physical work, but whatever your physical condition or abilities, you can be used effectively.
When? Once each month for three to four hours.
If you are not currently involved in Church work, or you believe strongly that maintaining our environs is important we would value your committed contribution. Thanks
Spring Harvest at LPO, France
Next May half-term (commencing 26th May 2019), there will be a number of people from St John’s going to LPO (Le Pas Opton), the holiday destination owned by Spring Harvest in France. LPO is a campsite with static caravans, ready-made tents and camp pitches if you want to BYO. Over the week there are morning meetings with bible teaching, evening worship, morning groups and activities for children from of all ages and family activities run in the evening.
We would love you to join! Over the years we have taken groups of various sizes and will be happy to help first timers plan the trip and give advice on the best accommodation and travel arrangements. For those who would like to attend but for whom the cost is prohibitive, some bursaries are available.
