Sat 3rd February – Quiz Night
7.00pm for prompt 7.30pm start
Time to put on your thinking caps and join us in a quiz night to raise funds for the Buckhurst Hill Money Advice Service.
Our advisers have helped more clients in 2017 than they have in all the combined years since the service started! Debt is a real problem, and we need to train up more advisers urgently. The proceeds of this event
will help cover those costs, and hopefully leave some funds for general
running costs of the service, as currently the bank account is very low.
Please invite your friends, and join us for a fun evening to support this worthy cause.
£8 per head with Ploughman’s supper included.
Please bring your own drinks.
Contact Lucy Folkes: firstname.lastname@example.org
Or Pauline Leadley: email@example.com
Maximum of 8 per table or we can fill tables for you. Thank you.

Kitchen Table Project – Faith in the Family
It’s estimated that only 50% of the children of Christian parents grow up with a personal faith of their own as adults.
So within our Faith in the Family initiative, we want to equip Christian parents to ‘pass on’ faith to their children. We are our children’s biggest influencers – but we often feel ill equipped, or simply don’t know where to start.
In January 2018 we will be starting a new initiative to support parents in this most important task. There are no guarantees but through building warm family relationships and being intentional about
nurturing faith in our children, we can give them the best possible chance. Sign up now to make sure you don’t miss out!

An announcement will be made in the New Year detailing when and where tickets are available to purchase.
Fri 11th – Sun 13th May – Parish Weekend
Keep these dates free for our usual weekend of teaching, activities and fellowship.
Could you take a Lodger?
A friend of mine is looking for a more permanent home for Ben, a 16 year old missionary’s son from Brazil. He moved to the UK in July 2017 in order to study at Davenant and is currently living with three 26-30 year olds (+ a baby) on a temporary basis. Ideally, he needs a Christian family who are able to give him more structure and stability than he might currently be getting! Ben is very respectful, always willing to lend a hand and has followed every rule we have set out for him. If you feel you may be able to provide a home for him and you would like some further information, please contact either Jacob Farley on email@example.com or Corinne Westbrook firstname.lastname@example.org.
Do you think you have a problem with Cocaine or other mind altering substances (e.g. alcohol, prescription medication, cannabis or any other drug)? Cocaine Anonymous can help.
Cocaine Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their
experience, strength and hope with each other so that they may share their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind altering substances.
There are no dues or fees for membership and we are fully self supporting through our own contributions.

SUMMER HOLIDAY OPPORTUNITIES 2018
Westbrook Summer Holiday for children aged 9-16
Mon 30th July – Sun 5th Aug
Often, post-Christmas, our TV screens start to fill up with ads for spectacular holidays in warm places. Whilst the Isle of Wight might not boast Caribbean temperatures (though you never know!) we can offer a spectacular holiday again this summer, with our new look holiday with two separate age-streams.
We’re pleased to say that bookings are now open – the link below will take you to the web page with further details and a downloadable booking form.
I’m also including a link to a video that has been produced by one of the young people on the holiday, Cristina, which those who went last
year will probably be interested in seeing. It will also remind them why they will want to come back this year!
The video is just under 20 minutes long. If you have any difficulty viewing it on the screen, you can download it using the button in the top right hand corner.
It is just over 600MB – so it might take a few minutes! We hope they enjoy reliving WWW17!
Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Ray if you have any queries.
With best wishes, Corinne Brixton
Fri 24thth August – returning on Wed 29th August – Soul Survivor 2018
As has been the case for the last few years, we are offering to take the youth group, and their friends, away for five days to ‘festival’ all about Jesus. It has always been a time of great blessing, spiritual enrichment and deepening of friendships among those who attend.
As it stands we will be going to ‘Week C’ which is from 24th – 29th August.
The best way to find out more is to talk to us, or someone who has been to one previously. You can also find out more details here https://soulsurvivor.com/summer/
There is a mild urgency to this as the prices increase at the end of January 2018 so early booking is best. If you have any questions on this please do speak to us.
thanks and regards,
Jacob, Becca, Britney
