Operation Christmas Child (Shoe Box Appeal)

We will soon (9 November Ladies’ Night) be packing the shoe boxes for this wonderful outreach.  If you could pick up a few bits and pieces while you are shopping, we would be very grateful.  Gift suggestions: Toys: dolls or stuffed toys (with CE label), toy trucks, ball, etc.  School Supplies: pens, pencils, colouring books, etc. Hygiene Items: toothbrush and toothpaste, bars of wrapped soap, flannel.  Or if you prefer, cash to pay towards the postage to send these amazing parcels.

Poppy Collectors needed

15th October – Church Family Lunch

If you have signed up for the church family lunch, don’t forget to stay  and enjoy this wonderful time of fellowship.

 

19th October + 20th November – Resuscitation Training

Life Saving training run by Jo Vinicombe Grant in how to use the defibrillator machine.  7.30pm start in St John’s Church.  All welcome to attend either date (or both if very keen!), but it would be helpful if you are able to let the church office know that you are coming .

20th October – Friday Night Youth Group

A continuation of Patrick Regan’s study on “When Faith Gets Shaken”.   7.30-9.00pm in St John’s Church.  Prayer, discussion, fellowship and fun!  Open for all in school years 9 – 11.

 

28th October – Mothers’ Union Fund Raising Whist Drive

6.30pm for 7.00pm sharp, St John’s Centenary Hall

A sociable and fun event: Whist is a simple game of cards played in teams, everyone moves around the room playing rounds against other teams.  Suitable for all ages – full instructions given on the night.  £10 per ticket to include a Ploughman’s platter, bring your own drinks.  Tickets available from Corinne 0208 505 5824 or Lynne 0208 505 5708 or catch one of us in church.  All proceeds will go to the Mothers’ Union General Relief Fund to help families in desperate need around the World, so please do come along to support us.

14th December – Ladies Christmas Meal

This year we will be going to The Toby Carvery, Buckhurst Hill, 7.15pm for 7.30pm. £16.50 per head to cover the meal, tip and a complimentary glass of Prosecco or soft drink alternative.  Drinks can be purchased direct from the bar. Feel free to invite your friends. Forms now available from Chris Hawkins – to be completed and returned with  cheque payable to Ms C Hawkins by 4th Dec at the latest.
